Very cool restaurant in Lynchburg. Great food and atmosphere, highly recommend!

Even with it being super busy, we did wait long for a table (20 minutes with a lot of parties ahead of us). Fun atmosphere!

A great place to stop in for a burger or just a drink. Everyone is very friendly and the service is pretty quick! My favorite burger on the menu is the Run For The Border burger but (from what I've had) they are all very good and you should consider trying their Fried Oreos or a local beer/liquor to go along with it.

I ordered the Bourbon Mushroom Burger. The best burger I’ve had in awhile. The burger was cooked the way I asked and moist. The mushrooms were an appropriate size too. I hate when they’re itty bitty and fall all over the place. Nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. My first time eating with them definitely will go back.

My boyfriend I tried this restaurant. When we first walked in we were greeted right away. We only had to wait about 5 min for a table which was not bad at all because I requested a booth. The food that we ordered was pretty good, I only have a few issues.... the burgers were not well seasoned. I didn't like how everything was an extra charge. My onion rings and my boyfriend's fries were extra, cheese was extra, bacon was extra. The food took at least 2O min to come which was not so bad because we were having good conversation.Overall it was cool. We will visit again.

One of my absolute favorite places in downtown Lynchburg. The food is always good, the beer is always cold, and the staff is always super friendly. It's not listed on the menu, but they do have an amazing veggie burger!

The bun-less option here is amazing. They put the entire burger without the bun on a delicious salad, with an amazing dressing. I’ve been here many times, I always leave happy.

The decoration and ambiance was nice, as well as the drink selection. I had been really looking forward to eating here, BUT was very disappointed in my actual meal. Don't call something a "smoked pimento and bacon grilled cheese" on the menu if what you're actually going to serve is a BLT. All the burgers had detailed descriptions of everything on them, but this sandwich was listed as just bacon and grilled cheese on sourdough bread - which sounded great. What I actually got was bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. A cold BLT sandwich on toast, not a hot grilled cheese with bacon. And it didn't even taste that great.

Great atmosphere and vibe. The burgers were good and the great customer service. Great options for the burgers. The outdoor seating was very comfortable.

The views outside were amazing, and the outside seating was great. Food portions were good, as well as the milkshake I got. The staff were friendly and courteous and attentive, very much willing to engage in some conversation as well as serving the food. I look forward to going back. As a note, a sign for the place did not seem to be visible traveling South on Commerce, and it Does require some walking to as it is not On the street exactly. Well worth the small walk!

Staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Food was cooked perfectly and tasted awesome. Little on the pricy side, but very worth it! Too many tasty looking options, simply must return. Recommend the strawberry chocolate Jack Daniels milkshake. Ask for Katie W.

Great location and gorgeous views. Dining room is beautiful. Food was wonderful. The Port Wine Blue Cheese Burger is probably the best hamburger I've ever had. Like the flights of whiskey, gives opportunity to try different types and styles. Will definately be back.

The burgers are great. The waitress suggested the onion rings and it did not disappoint! Very friendly staff. Very reasonable price.

Good spot in Lynchburg. I got the wings and they were great. My only complain is I ordered a double Tito’s and it was probably an 1.5 oz pour I confirmed with the bartender and he said it was a double $16 bucks for a whole lot of tonic. Weak pours around this place stick to the draft beer

We came in for lunch and what a pleasant suprise! The burgers paired with the burger relish is to die for! They have excellent flights to choose from, including bourbon, whiskey, and moonshine. The fries are also very tasty and the atmosphere is very modern country. Can't wait to come back!

Beyond burgers. I'm glad I forced myself from places I already knew. I was delighted with the happy hour choices. I decided on deviled eggs and ahi Tuna. They were good choices. The beer choices were really good. Some a little pricey ei MO Brewing from Maine. Come on man, too many other beer choices to pay that much. But they did give me a free taste. It was good just not that good. It was $12 for a 16 oz pour. The deviled eggs were amazing! I'll be back for a burger! CC at the bar was great. She knew all about the restaurant and all of their other ventures and there are a lot. Back again for the adult milkshakes. And for the record Hunter was great at the bar and Tyler was too. What a fun place to hang out. Back again late February 2019. This place is consistent. CC is back at the bar and does a tremendous job. Always happy to see the same people working hard to make your visit/occasion the best. CC rocks! Love this place.

Hamburgers were cooked exactly to order. The specialty burgers had excellent, interesting flavors - I enjoyed my bourbon mushroom burger in particular. One basket of fries was plenty for our table of 3. Service was prompt and friendly and price was reasonable.

I came here for a friend's birthday dinner. We waited an hour to be seated and another hour for our food. Maybe bc it was a really busy Friday night?? Anyways the food made up for it and the Bailey's Irish Cream Milkshake is delicious!

One of the best places to eat in Lynchburg! The southern atmosphere is amazing and most of the food appears and tastes home made.

Great food. Nice views. Light airy atmosphere for a nice summer's eve. Great service from Hunter! Could be better views if the city would clean up the riverfront so people could enjoy the views from across the train tracks. They've done so much to beautify the City of Lynchburg but the riverfront views are still somewhat obstructed.

Burger and atmosphere were awesome. Restaurant was very nicely presented for Christmas and the music was great. Probably in the minority ordering a soft drink at a place called Bootleggers but they pour room temperature cans onto ice and give you a very watered down drink. A minor complaint for sure, but seemed a little beneath the expectations, given the excellence in everything else. Service was great. Burger was excellent. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return... and keep my fingers crossed that a fountain drink machine has been purchased.

Excellent food, I ordered a medium-rare burger that came out exactly how I we wanted it. The fries were also super tasty and we'll worth the price.

Hunter is an excellent bartender and the selection is perfect! Great prices plus a warm environment well-situated by a good walk along the James River makes this one of the best places to go with your friends or lover in Lynchburg! 5/5 stars!!!

Fantastic! Best burger I have had in years!

A very nice surprise after my son’s lax tournament in Lynchburg yesterday. The boar burger and ahi tuna salad were perfect. The employees and service was also top notch.

The burgers here were really good. They made a good drink as well. Great view from the outdoor seating, and the ambience inside was great. Staff was very friendly.

Came to Bootleggers by myself. Sat at the bar and had delightful conversation with the bartender. I wish I could remember his name. He was very friendly. The food was good. The view was great. If my wife had been with me we would definitely have sat on the patio. Beautiful.

The Ghostfire burger is delicious. Staff are very welcoming and fast service.

The Carolina Pig burger was sooo good!! We also tried a flight of bourbon. The taste of Virginia. It's was really smooth!

Atmosphere was great, drinks were good, the buffalo cauliflower was the best I’ve ever had. Our server was adequate but left us without water a couple of times, and then someone else came by to refill our water. My port wine burger was great. My husband’s burger was mediocre at best. My biggest complaint is that you are buying a $13 burger that comes with no sides whatsoever so you then have to buy $4-$6 fries to go with it. We bought 1 order of the truffle fries to share and they were not good. So now I’m paying $20 for a burger and fries? Definitely not worth it.

The atmosphere was excellent and the service very good. The appetizers were creative and tasty, but the burgers were splendiferous, amazetacular and scrumdiddlyumptious.

Excellent food and service! Their menu isn't to big to get overwhelmed with options. The food to drink ratios are on point and anyone can find their particular taste there no matter what it is. Location wise it can be a bit tricky to get to if you haven't been there where it would be recommended to have a few signs pointed in the right direction to get there. It literally is a hole in the wall place and it's definitely a tasty addition to add to your local favorite list.

The food is delicious but 3 stars only because last year the burger had fries included in price and now for $10 or even $14 dollar burger have to pay extra $4 or $6 for a side! Then also milkshake was much bigger last year but the price is the same still. Also salad was smaller than last year and chicken on top was small. That’s pretty disappointing to get less food for the same prices.

Don't let the 'whiskey bar' fool you, I stopped for lunch w two small kids and loved it! Okay, so I had whiskey on my ice cream...and a beer. But the kids loved it! 😁 Seriously, food was far better than expected and the milkshakes do not disappoint.Both my wife and I come from bootlegger stock, so it made me feel at home, and was a good chance to educate the little ones about their 'people'. We had a good time hunting for the hidden revenuers and giving him a Bronx cheer.

Food and service was fantastic! Server was super attentive and took great care of the kids at the table, bringing out their food early.
